+1 646 845-0746

Michael Kiernan serves as a consultant and Associate Director in the research department in charge of recruiting and development. His primary focus is to help Wolfe maintain the highest levels of research excellence and add more best-in-class analysts and associates to grow our research offering. Mike spends the majority of his time for Wolfe identifying, evaluating and recruiting talent at all levels to support our research team. He works with our analysts, compliance, and the control room in supervising Wolfe’s top rated research.

His career started on the buyside as a portfolio manager which gives him an advantage in understanding how our clients think and a greater appreciation of their needs. He has over 10 years on the sell side where he served in a leadership role on teams that have all achieved success: 1) Bear Stearns was ranked #1 in research according to Greenwich Associates in his last year 2) Bear Stearns rose to the # 2 overall ranking in the Institutional Investor Research Ranking Survey, which is up from # 8 when he joined the firm 4 years prior, and 3) Lazard Capital Markets doubled their market share with clients and revenue during his 3-year period there.

Some of that success can be attributed to an intense focus on idea generation, backed up by objective fundamental analysis and proprietary research. At Bear Stearns he served as Product Manager and key member of the Analyst Oversight Committee where he helped to shape the research product. At Lazard Capital Markets, he served as Deputy Director of Research and helped build a research department that was insightful, timely and relevant. An accomplishment that he finds most gratifying is the development of the research associates at both firms that have grown to become leading analysts on the sell side and important clients on the buyside.

Key success factors have been his relentless focus on clients, instilling a culture of collaboration, developing people and process with the aim to producing differentiated ideas that are backed up by in depth fundamental research. He enjoys working with smart, driven people with a winning attitude and will be looking for talent with these attributes to join our team.

Michael has a BA in Economics from Rutgers College, an MBA in Finance from The Fordham Graduate School of Business and is a CFA Charterholder.

Currently, he serves as Vice President and Program Chair on the CFA Society of Stamford’s Board of Directors and resides in Connecticut with his wife and two children.
