Joseph Danowsky is the General Counsel and a Managing Director at Wolfe Research, where he also serves on the firm’s Executive and Operating committees. Joe has many years of experience in law and finance with major Wall Street firms.
After starting his legal career at a major Philadelphia law firm, Joe joined the Legal Department at Bear Stearns, where as a Managing Director he led a team that focused on the areas of derivatives, securities transactions, and prime brokerage services. As a founding member of the Bear Stearns Advisory Services/Wealth Management group, Joe became a Senior Managing Director and managed sophisticated financial products and provided wealth structuring and asset allocation advice for executives, concentrated stockholders, and venture and private equity firms. Joe continued in a similar role at J.P. Morgan after its acquisition of Bear Stearns.
Joe left J.P. Morgan to become the Head of the Strategic Solutions Group at Barclays Wealth Americas, which delivered to the firm's clients wealth structuring solutions, such as exchange funds, hedging and monetization strategies, and restricted/control stock management. In addition, he was responsible for the Wealth Americas over-the-counter and listed options businesses, venture services, and the private investment platform. Most recently, Joe was a Managing Director at Bank of America Private Bank.
Joe has been a longstanding member of the Securities Regulation and Derivatives & Structured Products committees of the New York State Bar Association and served on the Executive Committee of the Business Law Section. He holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. Joe is a member of the state bars of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
