Airline Analyst Joins Leading Independent Firm
New York, NY Wolfe Trahan & Co., a premier investment research boutique, announced today that Hunter Keay has joined the firm as a Director and Senior Analyst covering the Airline sector. Mr. Keay was recently voted one of Wall Streets Best Up And Comers on the 2010 Institutional Investor magazine AllAmerica Research Team, and No. 1 in Airlines for stock picking in 2010 by StarMine (preliminary results). Wolfe Trahan & Co., founded in 2008 by former Bear Stearns & Co., Inc. Senior Analyst Ed Wolfe, has established a reputation for superior transportation and macro research.
Commenting on the hire, Mr. Wolfe said, Having known or interviewed most of the top analysts in the Airline sector, I am convinced that Hunters detailed and honest research, focused solely on the U.S. carriers, positions him well to become the research authority in this once again burgeoning group of stocks. Moreover, we are pairing him with one of our top young transport associates, Jared Shojaian, whose prior industry experience as a financial analyst with AMR should allow Hunter to hit the ground running as he seeks to launch his airline coverage at Wolfe Trahan in late March." Wolfe further noted, Our firm believes that over the next five years, the buy side will increasingly view the airlines as an investable space, encouraged by ongoing industry restructuring, and we think it is important to our transport franchise that we make a major commitment to the sector. Airline equities may well demonstrate the kind of evolution we witnessed with the freight transport stocks over the past decade, as they gradually found and asserted pricing power."
Mr. Keay was formerly a Senior Airline Analyst at Stifel Nicolaus. Prior to that, Mr. Keay served as an Associate in the Aerospace & Defense sector at both Stifel and its predecessor, Legg Mason. He worked as a consultant in IBMs Aerospace and Defense practice and also for PricewaterhouseCoopers before embarking on his Wall Street career. Mr. Keay received a bachelors degree in business management/finance from Bucknell University, and is a CFA charterholder.
Stated Mr. Keay, "I love researching and writing on the airlines, which I consider a constantly-changing sector full of investment opportunities and challenges. Wolfe Trahans unparalleled knowledge, focus, and reputation in the transport sector make it the natural platform for me to reach the next level of my career. I am excited, and cannot wait to launch coverage and begin to market to clients again."
