Hunter Keay, CFA
Hunter is a Managing Director and Senior Analyst covering the Airline and Aerospace & Defense sectors. In 2018 Hunter was voted #2 in the Airlines sector by investors in Institutional Investor magazine's All-America Poll, after finishing #1 in 2017, #1 in 2016, #3 in both 2015 and 2014, and as a Runner-Up in both 2013 and 2012. This recognition came after earning the status of “Rising Stars” by Institutional Investor magazine in the same survey in 2011.
Prior to joining Wolfe Research in 2011, Hunter was a Director and Senior Airline Analyst at Stifel Nicolaus, where he was voted one of Wall Street’s “Best Up And Comers” on the 2010 Institutional Investor magazine All—America Research Team. Hunter has won numerous awards for stock picking and earnings estimate accuracy.
Before initiating coverage on Airlines as a Senior Analyst at Stifel Nicolaus, Hunter spent four years as an Associate Analyst covering Aerospace & Defense in Stifel Nicolaus’ Industrial Equity Research group, joining the company via Stifel’s acquisition of Legg Mason’s Capital Markets practice in 2005. Before joining Legg Mason in 2004, Hunter worked as a consultant in IBM’s Aerospace and Defense practice in Washington D.C., and also for PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York City before embarking on his Wall Street career. Hunter received a bachelor’s degree in business management/finance from Bucknell University, and he is a CFA charterholder.
