Title: Equity Research Associate (Biopharmaceuticals)

Overview

Wolfe Research is seeking a research associate to join its mid-town New York based firm. Wolfe Research has been voted within the top 15 equity research firms on Wall Street by institutional clients for the past five years in Institutional Investor magazine’s All-America Research Poll (weighted) and we plan continued strategic growth ahead. The firm’s clients include many of the world’s largest asset managers with mutual funds, pensions and hedge funds as the primary constituents. Wolfe seeks to be best-in-class in a focused set of research, sales and trading activities.

Job Description:

Wolfe Research is seeking an associate to join the No. 1 ranked Global Pharmaceuticals team, based in New York. As an Equity Research Associate, you will help build financial models, write research reports, and interface with key opinion leaders, institutional investors, company management teams, and internal sales and trading personnel. You will have a high level of responsibility and play an important role as part of the decision-making process for the franchise.

Qualifications/Responsibilities (all below are required):

Ideal candidates for the team should have at least three years of direct experience in the area of biopharmaceuticals.  Most members of the team have worked at biopharmaceutical companies at the corporate level, usually in areas such as marketing, business intelligence, medical affairs, etc. Alternatively, candidates may come from consulting firms that have consulted to biopharmaceutical companies, or they may have worked in a similar financial role already either on the "buyside" or "sell-side" in the healthcare/therapeutics space.

Education

While many of our past hires have their MBAs, this is not a prerequisite - we are less concerned with a candidate's financial knowledge, and are more concerned that they have a broad-based, solid understanding of the complexities of the biopharmaceutical industry. Many of our previous hires have also held advanced degrees (PhDs, MDs) in a scientific area relevant to the job, but this is not a requirement.

A solid understanding of Excel, Power Point, and Word are essential, as are good written and verbal skills.
