Wolfe Trahan Airline Quarterly
Heading into 1Q12 earnings season we are optimistic that commentary on prevailing demand trends should be good (but not hyper-promotional), and consensus estimates look widely beatable (at least, as of this morning). Our Wolfe Trahan PRASM Forecaster continues to show solid mid-to-high single digit industry PRASM growth through June (updated today) – and thanks to continuing volatility in fuel prices, capacity discipline remains intact at an aggregate level. Passenger volumes look strong, with booking patterns seemingly returning to more normalized levels as consumers feel generally sure about booking vacations longer in advance (this is helped by a declining unemployment rate, in our opinion).
